In honor of America’s 250th birthday, we are launching a new series called "America 250".

We made this series for a simple reason.

For two and a half centuries, this nation has been carried forward by men and women who understood that freedom is never inherited without responsibility, and greatness is never preserved by comfort alone.Farmers became soldiers. Doctors became generals. Ordinary citizens left their homes, their families, and their futures to defend a republic that, at times, they could not be certain would survive the year. Yet they went anyway.

The virtues that built America, duty, courage, competence, sacrifice, and the conviction that each generation must leave its family and country stronger than it found them, remain the foundation of our national character. They are not outdated. They are not relics. They are the living inheritance of a free people.

Over the next four weeks, we will release seven chapters that walk back through that tradition, one decisive moment at a time. Not merely to look backward, and not out of nostalgia, but to remember what made this country great and what greatness still requires of those blessed enough to inherit it.
